The IPL 2026 league stage is entering its final stretch, and the playoffs race is still wide open. With only 10 days left before the group stage ends, eight teams are still fighting for four playoff spots.

Gujarat Titans, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, SunRisers Hyderabad, and Punjab Kings are currently placed strongly, but Chennai Super Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders have made the race more interesting with late wins. Rajasthan Royals are still alive, while Delhi Capitals need a near perfect finish and several results to go their way.

Mumbai Indians and Lucknow Super Giants are already out of the playoffs race.

IPL 2026 Teams Qualification Scenario & Points Situation

At this stage, 18 points look like the safest mark for direct qualification. A team finishing on 16 points may still qualify, but net run rate and other match results will become important.

Teams like Gujarat Titans and RCB are in a strong position on the points table, while CSK, KKR, RR, and DC need strong finishes to stay in the playoff race.

Gujarat Titans Qualification Scenario

Gujarat Titans are the best placed team in the race. With 16 points from 12 matches, they are almost through to the playoffs.

GT have looked balanced throughout the season, with their top order scoring consistently and their bowlers delivering in key phases. Since their IPL debut in 2022, Gujarat have built a reputation for reaching the knockouts regularly, and IPL 2026 looks no different.

Their remaining matches are against Kolkata Knight Riders and Chennai Super Kings. One more win should confirm their playoff spot, while winning both could help them finish in the top two.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru Qualification Scenario

Royal Challengers Bengaluru are also in a strong position with 14 points from 11 matches. Their net run rate is among the best in the tournament, which gives them an advantage if teams finish level on points.

RCB face Kolkata Knight Riders next, followed by Punjab Kings and SunRisers Hyderabad. A win against KKR would take them closer to qualification, but they would still prefer one more victory after that to reach the safer 18 point mark.

As defending champions, RCB have shown good consistency this season. If they win two of their remaining three matches, they should qualify comfortably.

SunRisers Hyderabad Qualification Scenario

SunRisers Hyderabad have recovered well after a slow start and are now firmly in the playoff race. They have 14 points from 12 matches and two league matches left.

SRH face Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bengaluru in their remaining games. One more win could keep them in the race, but two wins would make their qualification much safer.

Their batting has been aggressive throughout the season, and the bowling unit has also improved at the right time. Their net run rate is still in positive territory, which could help them if the fight comes down to margins.

Punjab Kings Qualification Scenario

Punjab Kings started IPL 2026 strongly, but four straight losses have made their situation tricky. They are still in the top four race with 13 points from 11 matches, including one point from a washed out match against KKR.

PBKS have three matches left against Mumbai Indians, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, and SunRisers Hyderabad. They need at least two wins to feel safe.

Their match against Mumbai Indians is very important because MI are already eliminated. A defeat there would put Punjab under heavy pressure before facing two direct playoff rivals in RCB and SRH.

Punjab still have a decent net run rate, but their bowling and fielding need quick improvement.

Chennai Super Kings Qualification Scenario

Chennai Super Kings have kept their playoff hopes alive with a strong comeback after losing their first three matches. They have won six of their last eight games and now sit in the middle of the race.

CSK still need to win all their remaining matches to reach 18 points. That looks like the clearest route for them because many teams in contention will face each other in the final few days.

Their remaining matches are against Lucknow Super Giants, SunRisers Hyderabad, and Gujarat Titans. The match against LSG is a must win because Lucknow are already out. After that, CSK will have two tough games against teams placed above them.

For CSK, anything less than three wins could leave them dependent on net run rate and other results.

Kolkata Knight Riders Qualification Scenario

Kolkata Knight Riders looked almost out of the race after a poor first half, but four straight wins have brought them back into contention.

KKR can reach a maximum of 17 points, which may be enough if other results fall in their favour. They also have a game in hand compared to some teams, which keeps their chances alive.

Their remaining matches are important because they face direct rivals. They also play their final three games at home, which could be a major advantage.

KKR need to keep winning and protect their net run rate. Even one defeat from here could make qualification difficult.

Rajasthan Royals Qualification Scenario

Rajasthan Royals have been inconsistent after a strong start. They won their first four matches but then lost momentum, with five defeats in their last seven games.

RR have 12 points from 11 matches and need at least two wins from their remaining three matches to stay in the race. Three wins would give them a much stronger chance.

They face Delhi Capitals, Lucknow Super Giants, and Mumbai Indians. On paper, this is a helpful fixture list because two of those teams are already out or nearly out of the playoff picture.

However, RR cannot afford another slip. Their bowling has been a concern, and they need a complete team performance in the final week.

Delhi Capitals Qualification Scenario

Delhi Capitals have the toughest road among the eight teams still mathematically alive. They are on 10 points from 12 matches and can only reach a maximum of 14 points.

Even if DC win their remaining matches, qualification will be very difficult. They would need other teams to lose, and they would also need big wins to improve their net run rate.

Delhi’s win over Punjab Kings kept them alive, but their playoff chances remain slim. At this stage, they need a miracle finish.

Teams Already Eliminated

Mumbai Indians and Lucknow Super Giants are out of the IPL 2026 playoff race. Both teams can still affect the final standings because they have matches left against teams fighting for qualification.

For teams like Punjab Kings, Rajasthan Royals, and Chennai Super Kings, matches against eliminated sides are must win games.

IPL 2026 Playoffs Race Summary

Gujarat Titans are closest to qualification and need only one more win to seal their place. RCB and SRH are also in strong positions, but both still have important matches against direct rivals.

Punjab Kings are under pressure after four straight defeats, while CSK and KKR have made strong late pushes. Rajasthan Royals need results and consistency, while Delhi Capitals are hanging by a very thin thread.
